Sunset Management Company was founded with the goal of creating a unique presence in the vacation rental industry. We provide owner operators an alternative succession option; one that does not entail having their brand, employees and homeowners consumed by a giant entity. A succession option that understands that the most valuable asset a company has is its relationships and tradition.
Vacation rental companies are built from the ground up, one relationship at a time, with each owner, each vendor and employee. These relationships create a legacy. When a company is acquired and the legacy is not honored the relationships can dissolve and along with it the core value of the company.
Sunset Rentals on Hilton Head Island was acquired in 2019 from family ownership and marked the beginning of Sunset Management Company’s journey into the vacation rental industry. Founded in 1993, and ultimately growing to over 250 villas and homes, Sunset Rentals remains one of the most long running and successful vacation rental businesses on Hilton Head Island.
In 2020 Sunset Management Company acquired Big Sky Vacation Rentals in Big Sky, Montana. Founded in 2009, Big Sky Vacation Rentals has an established inventory of the most exceptional homes in Big Sky, Montana. We continue to nurture the relationships and reputation that was cultivated by the founders over the previous 10 years.
In 2021 Sunset Management Company finalized negotiations to purchase two long established vacation rental companies on Kiawah and Seabrook Islands outside of Charleston, South Carolina. Upon acquisition all local employees were retained as well as all local relationships. Kiawah Exclusives and Seabrook Exclusives are proud to continue their programs of premium guest and owner services that were put into place under stewardship of prior ownership.

In 2022, Sunset Management Company acquired Winter Park Lodging Company and Steamboat Lodging Company in Colorado. With over 150 properties and 40 full-time employees, these businesses each enjoy reputations as trusted community partners and have achieved status as respected leaders in the vacation rental community. Upon acquisition, this successful business model endures, allowing the companies and employees to grow and thrive within each market.
